Pastor Woods,
Today was my second visit to Allen Chapel and both times I felt welcomed by the congregation and the sermons have been truly thought provoking. Keysha Martin, my friend and co-worker, was kind to invite me to your church for fellowship and entering into a relationship with the Lord again. I especially enjoyed today's sermon regarding our perceptions of God and the Holy Trinity. It brought to mind a debate I listened to regarding a riddle written by Greek philosopher Epicurus:
"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?"
My question is how would a Christian respond to the questions asked in Epicurus's riddle?
Sincerely,
Jimmie Alston
